The Human Rights and Inclusion Education Project, implemented through the international human rights organisation ReportOUT, provides a structured approach to documenting lived experiences, strengthening awareness, and amplifying the voices of sexual and gender minorities across diverse global contexts. The project integrates research, education, and training to generate evidence-based insights, promote social inclusion, and support rights-focused advocacy at local, national, and international levels.
This work was contributed to by Ms. Jodie Weatherston, Senior Advisor, Education and Social Inclusion, whose expertise includes human rights education, global social inclusion, and community-based empowerment. Jodie supported multi-country research teams, helped develop educational resources, contributed to volunteer training, and worked with partner organisations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Her contributions ensured that the project remained rigorous, participatory, and grounded in global human rights standards.
Marginalised communities around the world continue to face discrimination, limited legal protection, and deep social exclusion. This project responded to these challenges through collaborative, in-depth research with local partners and the development of educational initiatives designed to strengthen understanding, visibility, and rights-based approaches. Working across Uganda, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Ethiopia, Mongolia, and Belize, the project conducted multi-country human rights research, delivered capacity-building programmes for community organisations and activists, and offered training workshops on human rights documentation, advocacy, and community protection. It also produced educational materials that promote inclusion, wellbeing, and broader social awareness, while coordinating volunteers, supervising researchers, and strengthening strategic partnerships.
The research resulted in detailed country reports that documented the lived realities of vulnerable groups and provided practical, evidence-based recommendations for governments, NGOs, and advocacy networks. These findings have supported stronger protection mechanisms, more inclusive community practices, and greater visibility for groups whose rights are often overlooked, contributing to long-term efforts to promote dignity, equality, and social justice.
